Columbine Anniversary - April 20th
Columbine Anniversary is April 20th. On that date in 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold stormed into the Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado. Over the next few hours the two crazed teenagers shot dozens of students and teachers. When the dust had settled, 15 people were dead including the two killers.
The Columbine Massacre raised more questions than answers. While it's clear how the teenagers planned their rampage, it's unclear exactly why; also how can similar events be prevented from happening in the future.

While many people seek answers for the rampage, few are willing to admit that there really are no clear answers other than the two killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were both screwed up in the head! Too many people have been seeking to rationalize something that can't be rationalized. While it's fine to ask questions, one must be aware that some questions don't have rational answers...

October 1st, 2003: The Columbine Anniversary website has served its purpose and has now been decommissioned.

While much has happened in the past 3+ years, since the website went live, much hasn't changed - senseless violence and the over-reaction to it by well meaning, but misguided people who believe restricting rights and taking away freedoms is the answer.

The truth is such over-reactions do little other than make our society less free; if anything, such over-reactions likely increases the odds of another shooting or similarly extremely violent event happening again.

Don't think so? Then consider these facts...at the time of the tragedy:

Camera captures shooters, but the cameras didn't stop them - feel good security is as bad, if not worse, than no security at all.
What was the purpose of these cameras exactly? They certainly didn't stop the tragedy...

Paraphrasing a famous quote: One who trades their freedoms for a little extra security shall have neither. Something to consider the next time one suggests more security or other nonsense that doesn't work; likely alienating and isolating kids more - how does treating kids akin to tagged cattle really help them exactly?

I realize my comments may come across as offensive and/or over the top so to speak to some readers, but my objective all along has been to encourage honest, no nonsense discussion of these issues - the truth often hurts and isn't what we'd like it to be...there usually are no "beauty solutions" to complex problems, but rather such problems, as life itself, comes down to how one handles the various challenges as they come...

In closing, I hope the site was informative - thank you for visiting.
